(a) Election Committee. There shall be an Election Committee consisting of three Election Judges; two shall be tribal members who are not on the Council or a candidate, and one shall be a Council member who is not running for a Council seat. The Council, prior to each tribal election, shall appoint the Committee.

(b) Duties of Election Committee Judges. The duties of the Election Committee Judges shall be to supervise, administer, and conduct tribal elections. The Judges shall allow tribal members to review results of the election, certify the election, and file election results in the St. Paul Island Tribal Office.

(c) Determining Who Is Qualified to Vote. The Election Committee shall determine that voters are qualified by comparing their names to the qualified voters list prepared by the St. Paul Tribal Council and shall ensure that voters submit only one vote. When persons are voting by absentee ballot at the Tribal Office, the designated tribal staff person shall be responsible for this duty.

(d) Monitoring Polls. At least two Election Judges shall monitor the polls at all times. The Judges shall ensure that no campaign materials are in the polling area, or within five hundred (500) feet of it, and that no ballots are removed from the voting area on Election Day.

(e) Present When Ballots Are Counted. For all elections, all three Election Judges shall be present when ballots are counted. [Certificate of Adoption passed April 22nd, 2008; 2008 Code § 1.7.4]
