The purpose of these rules is to provide procedures specific to juvenile offenders in recognition of the unique and sensitive nature of proceedings involving juveniles and their families. Proceedings under these rules are intended to be less formal than those under the Rules of Civil Procedure, Chapter 2.20 ATC, in an effort to encourage juvenile offenders and their families to meaningfully and positively engage in Juvenile Court proceedings. The Juvenile Court may consider the Rules of Civil Procedure, Chapter 2.20 ATC, for guidance on procedures not addressed by these rules; provided, that the Juvenile Court shall apply the Rules of Civil Procedure with deference to the purpose and spirit of this title.
